Australia, Brazil and South Africa top the chart while India loses its shine dropping to 10th from 4th rank last year on ’Top 10 Iron ore exporters to China in 2013’.
In the top 10 Iron ore exporters to China list, Australia leads the exporter list by supplying about 250 MnT Iron ore in 2013. The country’s major Iron miners are Rio Tinto (ranks 2nd in the world in names of largest mining companies), BHP Billiton and Fortescue Metals Group (FMG).
Brazil followed Australia in the second position of exporting Iron ore to China. The country exported about 86 MnT to China in the year 2013. The country’s major miners are Vale, the largest miners of the world and Samarco.
South Africa, which had replaced India’s third position in Iron ore exports during 2012 and shifted it to fourth, continues to maintain it during 2013. The country exported 27 MnT of the raw material to China in 2013.
India exported about 7.2 MnT to China in 2013 which has declined by 62 percent as compared to 19 MnT in 2012. The major reasons behind this huge downfall are considered to be the ban in exports from Goa and the increased export duty.
China is the largest trader of Iron ore for the year 2013 and imported Iron ore from almost everywhere in the world. The top ten exporters supplied about 426.21 MnT Iron ore to China.

It is likely that India’s Iron ore exports in 2014 will regain its position and will be increased with gradual time. Recent judgment from Central Government of rejecting Shah Commission’s plea of banning exports from Goa brings in hope for the country.
