JSW Steel is the leading Indian Steelmaker. It is one of the major producers and exporters of coated Flat products in the country. It has plants in various states like Maharashtra, Tamilnadu & Karnataka with a combined installed capacity of 14.3 MnT pa.
Company’s crude steel production was 1.07 MnT for November 2013. It recorded a growth of 78 per cent in crude Steel productions as compared to corresponding month of previous year. It is observed that, production of flat Steel products shows a significant increase by 61 per cent compared to same month previous year to 0.8 MnT, while that of long products decline and was at 0.144 MnT, down 14 per cent from corresponding period of last year.
Although the crude Steel production vs. previous month i.e. October 2013 has slightly gone up, but output from the rolling mills are slightly declined. Alike other leading steelmakers, JSW Steel have kept prices of their products unchanged for the current month owing to continual restrained demand. This will also support the coming of Steel sector back on track and expected uptrend in market demand, towards the end of FY14.
Company visualizes development in infrastructure in near future, owing to the same it plans to open around 5,000 shops in the next five years to sell custom-made steel to cater demand in rural and semi-urban India, where increasing returns have boosted home constructions. By the end of FY14, JSW will have 450 retail shops.
