JSPL requires more raw material for its steel plant in Raigarh after the completion of its expansion.
Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) is planning and discussing with UK-based steel giant Stemcor for buying its Odisha-based unit, Brahmani River Pellets Limited (BRPL), according to the sources. BRPL is a project which is completely owned by Stemcor.
JSPL, a part of Jindal Group, is one of the largest steel makers of India and involved in other sectors like Power, Mining, Oil, Gas and Infrastructure.
Stemcor – Steel Marketing Corporation, a British based steel trading company is the world’s largest independent steel trader.
BRPL has its beneficiation plant in Barbil with a capacity of 4.0 MnTPA. It supplies raw material to the iron pellets plant at Jajpur in Odisha through a 220 km long underground slurry pipeline. The BRPL’s beneficiation plant refines the low-grade iron ore fines from the mines located in the local areas nearby.
According to JSPL, they do not react on the fluctuation going on in the market. As they are a growing company, they always look forward for better opportunities for expansion and enhancement of their company and also add value in their business.
The pellet plant which is located near the steel industries, converts the low-grade iron ore fines into value-added pellets which is further used for the manufacturing of steel.
JSPL has a pellet plant in Barbil with a capacity of 5 MnTPA. It provides the material to their steel plant located in Raigarh. JSPL is currently in to a project of expansion of its steel plant. They will require more raw materials after the completion of their expansion project for the plant. The plant currently has a capacity of 3.5 MnTPA which will grow up to 7.5 MnTPA after the expansion is complete.
