The delegation was successful on the very first day of the tour i.e. on July 15, 2013, in concluding a MoU between RINL and McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada for collaboration and strengthening of Research cooperation in areas of Steel making, Beneficiation and Pellet making from low grade magnetite and training and exchange of research. When asked about the export of iron ore from India, Mr. Verma said that the Government has already taken action which has resulted in sharp decline of exports by 75%. Mr. Verma also said, “Although, India has rich reserves of iron ore, it is opportune time for Indian steel industry to acquire more iron ore mines to meet the requirement of next generation, the country being populous.”
Mr. Verma will also visit mineral rich State of British Columbia and will discuss on the same subject with the Premier of British Columbia and other concerned ministers and organizations.
